Owned by the City of Oshawa, and managed by Spectra Venue Management, the Tribute Communities Centre (formerly the General Motors Centre)?opened in 2006 with a project cost of $45 million. As Durham Region?s premier Sports and Entertainment Facility, the Tribute Communities Centre provides a first-class home to the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League?and the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame.
Since opening, the Tribute Communities Centre has hosted major concerts and special events including Elton John, Cirque du Soleil, 2011 BDO Canadian Open, IIHF World Junior Pre-Competition, Weightlifting and Boxing events for 2015 TORONTO Pan Am Games,?Eric Church, Jason Aldean, Hedley, Skate Canada Synchronized Skating Championships, Selena Gomez and The Wiggles; just to name a few!
The main ice pad in the Tribute Communities Centre is flexible in seating capacity, and can host events which require seating from 1,500 to 7,600. Inside, the Tribute Communities Centre is equipped with an in-venue full-service restaurant, Prospects Bar & Grill, executive suites, special club seating, rental space, and an Oshawa Generals retail store.
The Tribute Communities Centre hosted a total of 314,755?guests throughout 2018?which attributed to over $7,850,000?in gross ticket sales. The Tribute Communities Centre was ranked 10th in Canada and?188th?in the world for ticket sales by Pollstar Magazine for the 2019 Mid-Year Worldwide Ticket Sales Top 200 Arena Venues Chart! The Tribute Communities Centre also received the 2015??Business Excellence Award" from the Greater Oshawa Chamber of Commerce,?and was ranked 4th in Canada?by Venues Today Magazine in their ?2017?Top Stops? report for venues of 5,001-8,000 capacity. The Tribute Communities Centre also ranked among the top 100 venues for Venues Today Magazine's 2017 Social Media Power 100 Chart where the venue ranked 7th?for venues 5,001-10,000 capacity.
